chuushingura 1/47

chuushingura 1/47

this drama has the best cast lineup (imo, even better than ikebukuro west gate park and lunch queen.) it's like they used my list of hottest japanese guys in casting and am sure not complaining. :P i mean, takuya kimura alone is more than enough for me, put in okada junichi and i'll be jumping with glee. what more if satoshi tsumabuki appears? *faints* ok, i should stop smiling since this is quite a serious drama. it's about vengeance and the samurai way of living and dying. feuds between clans, periodic theme, not really my usual cup of tea but i have my reasons *lol!* i know it's supposed to be serious but seeing junichi and satoshi in samurai hairstyle is just plain funny. the "may i blow my nose?" scene totally cracked me up too although i think it was intented to hold more significance than merely just for laughs. was that ken watanabe in the end? i can't really tell, here's a pic.

i was supposed to watch love and honor, another takuya kimura film, but i wanted to watch this first since i had this longer and it had a similar theme (i think.) when i read matsu takako's name in the cast i immediately assumed she'll be playing opposite kimura but it was fukatsu eri (sora kara furu ichioku no hoshi) who played kimura's wife. i don't like her that much. she played opposite satoshi too in slow dance.

for kimura fans, there's a scene here where there's a lot of people walking from afar but if you're a kimura fan you'd be able to point him out (despite the dark setting.)

did i like this drama? it's takuya kimura, what'd you think?! plus junichi! and satoshi! if this drama was crap i'd still like it. :P kidding aside, yeah, i did like this drama. "for a samurai, the point is not living, the way one dies is what's important. samurai spend their lives looking for a place to die." these are new viewpoints for me (i tend to be apathetic), not something i'd take on but something to ponder on. :)

i wanna add that i liked the way they did the samurai fights, not the usual fancy sword fighting but it was sorta clumsy, more realistic. *ignore this line, i'm just pretending, i don't know anything about samurai fighting. those i've seen are in movies like kill bill and zatoichi. the best samurai fight scenes that come to mind are kenshin's fights in samurai x (rorouni kenshin)* :P
