i saw narishun_kun's post about this film and got intrigued. came highly recommended but decided to put off watching it. i didn't want to be disappointed.
i wasn't.
a simple love story. why does it feel so familiar? :( how can something be so beautifully sad?

makoto shinkai knows how to bring out feelings that are residing deep inside people. But like his other works, this one does have hope at the end of it. Watch it again and notice the expression on his face at the end, just the last few seconds.

it could go both ways i guess, nothing's definite but the longing was pretty painful. everytime i watch the end (the song) i cry. T_T maybe because the feeling i get from it is that it would never be a happy ending.

I was so impressed by Makoto Shinkai that I went and get all his other works!
It's unbelievably beautiful, but so saddening at the same time.
