my new hockey stick
got a new hockey stick! hurray! :D was worried about commuting with it, luckily my coach was kind enough to let me leave it with him... (thanks coach paul!)
IMO my coach is one of the best coaches in megamall (if not the best - sipsip! :D) but am afraid all his expertise is being wasted on an untalented skater like moi (sad but true). still, am loving skating. can already crossover (forward and backward, left and right) albeit awkwardly. love going fast (not too fast since am still a dufus at stopping) with occasional crossovers (it ain't as good as it sounds) and the feeling of getting tired (this one's weird since am one lazy kid).
nyways, started our stick lessons last weekend and it was fun. bought the stick just this weekend. my coach asked me which side was i comfortable hitting the puck with, figured i'd go for the right side since i was right-handed but then realized later was more comfortable with the left side! realized it a bit too late though, my coach already cut the stick to fit my height. just have to learn how to manage the stick with my left hand (you hit with your right but most maneuvers are done by your left hand). figured it'd be easier to teach my hands than my feet since hitting on the right means stopping with your left foot (and we all know how good i am at stopping *roll eyes*).
was supposed to wear gloves but was hesitant in borrowing one (clammy hands). as a result a part of my right hand was sore. :( can't wait for my next lesson. still praying i won't suck at it :D
