last friends

title: last friends
rating: 5 stars
watched: june 2008

episode 1: the troubles we keep to ourselves
somehow the first episode left me with the feeling that something's wrong. the whole hour went by so fast. waaaahhh!! ryo-chan's first ----! T_T [4/15/08]

episode 2: a life-and-death secret
had goosebumps all over at the end of this episode. ryo's acting was better. *kowai!* it was pretty slow paced but it still left me speechless at the end (i still stared at the monitor for a while there). [4/24/08]

episode 3:
a love that eats away life
just like the second one, the last scene gave me goosebumps. what the hell?!? sosouke is scary. must watch summer time PV now! [4/27/08 7:03pm]

episode 4:
a bond torn apart
i don't get it, i really don't get it. i don't know why i'm crying. my mind's a mess. i really, really, really hate it that they casted ryo as sosuke. maybe that's wny i'm crying. maybe that's why i can understand michiru. if i love ryo as much as michiru loves sosuke, that last scene would have broken me (look what it did to me and i just love ryo as much as any other ryo fangirl - which is... a lot. ok, wrong analogy there, but you get my point?) casting ryo for this role was a very good decision. i would have immediately dismissed sosuke's character if it were some other actor. i think i'm beginning to understand, it's not sosuke's role i'm supposed to understand, it's michiru's. that alone scares me. [05/24/08 12:07am]

episode 5: a night of shock
after 4 gripping episodes this one's a disappointment. hmmm... i wonder if it's because of the preview scenes shown in the previous episode.
[May 25,2008 3:33am]

episode 6:
a desperate getaway
nothing much happened. hmmmm... but then it's the first time i actually felt like i can watch another episode right after (and i did.)
[June 1, 2008 3:47pm]

episode 7:
a harsh reality
just when you think things are complicated enough something happens to complicate it more. better than the last 2 episodes. this is more like the typical last friends episode. the ending is bombarded with a lot of new developments which makes you wonder if things will ever get resolved.
[June 1, 2008 3:50pm]

episode 8:
last letter
hmmmm... i don't know what's gonna happen now since nothing much happened. the whole episode is basically just about ruka's leaving the sharehouse, i don't know why it has to span a whole episode. imo, they need sosuke to spice things up. i guess they're building up the story for the next episodes. *off to watch ep 9* [june 15, 2008 6:04pm]

episode 9: your life
now i get it why ep 10 went above 20% in ratings. was open-mouthed at the end of this episode. this sure made up for ep 8. seriously, what made her decide to go there on her own? it's like she's inviting disaster. i was right, it really is sosuke's character that makes each episode extraordinary (for me at least.) but somehow, i'm not as afraid for ruka as i was for michiru. [june 15, 2008 7:00pm]

episode 10: love and death
*SPOILER ALERT*
why start an episode with something breaking, it gave me a scare. :( another thumbs-up episode. the ending really didn't surprise me anymore (what with ryo's blog and my f-list ranting about it) but it still had this typical last friends kick. i guess sosuke does deserve to go out with a bang. towards the end i was feeling numb, not caring about what was happening anymore. i was beyond hope for sosuke, irritated for michiru's stupidity for falling once again into sosuke's trap and disinterested in what was going on with the rest of the characters. then, at the very last few minutes, i suddenly found myself crying. just for this emotional roller-coaster ride, i love this drama.

hmmmm... now that sosuke's out of the picture, i'm worried what would happen to this drama. 1 or 2 more episodes to go and eita's story hasn't been wrapped up (nor fully unfolded) yet. is there really nothing going on with asami's character? who cares if ogurin stays or goes back? *sorry, just ranting, probably suffering from a sosuke-withdrawal syndrome* i had the impression at the start that ryo's was a supporting role but honestly (fangirl factor included), imo, he was the core of this drama. i hope they do realize that he deserves an award for this. *fangirl in me talking once again* [june 19, 2008 1:22am]

episode 11: to the future
my theory was right, without sosuke this didn't feel like the typical last friends episode. well, i guess it does have to end somewhere. i didn't like the way they ended takeru's and eri's characters although i did love the way this drama ended in general. it can't be helped, putting 5 great actors/actresses in one drama, there's bound to be someone to have less spotlight. CHANGE

what a weird bunch

first, aibu saki, now, kato rosa. who's next, kyonkyon? *i am so not watching manhattan love story anytime soon* i just finished watching the first 2 episodes of CHANGE and i loved it. i still have this habit of pausing whenever kato rosa's in the scene. i can't help it, i just have to stare and try to figure out what jin saw in her. the only drama i saw her in was dance drill and "plain" was the term that came to mind at the time (i didn't know about the jin thing then, i didn't even know who jin was then so i can't possibly be biased about this.) now i see it, she's really, really pretty (maybe it's now that i'm being biased.) hmmmm... maybe, just maybe... i might eventually like her. i keep imagining these girls with ryo & jin, i think i can understand ryo's choice. jin's... well, i'm still not over my envy-stage. fukatsu eri doesn't bother me as much anymore. i guess it's a plus that rosa's and eri's characters amuse me. two of my not-so-favorite actresses vs my ichiban, i guess kimura can convince me to watch almost anything.
