coffee prince

he shouldn’t have held me… because it made me want to tell him i'm a girl…

07/29/07 2:05am, sunday

coffee prince, one great addiction. eps 5,6 and 7's subtitles are out (thanks withs2). it's a bit surprising, realeasing 3 subtitles in one week instead of their usual 2 subs per week. i don't know which is more cruel, leaving us hanging at ep 6 or ep 7. *thinks* yeah, ep 6 would have been really cruel although... *confused* waaaahh! i just wanna watch ep 8. *don't get me wrong, i am very, very, very thankful for the subs, as in!* :P so far ep 6 is my favorite episode. if it ended in ep 6 i think i'd be pulling my hair by now and would probably start watching ep 7 without the subtitles. i don't know how everybody else managed the 6-day wait (in korea they air 2 eps per week, every monday and tuesday -- if i understood korean, i would love mondays more than weekends.) this drama tops all the dramas i'm currently watching. it makes me thankful that kdramas run longer and the episodes are more than an hour each. :)

on to deathly hollows. to those who haven't read/finished reading yet, no spoilers here so drop your weapons. i'm only writing about this now since it's been a busy week. finished reading in two nights, borrowed the book from my friend (thanks tec!) and went home really early for two consecutive days (seems weird getting out of the office at 7pm instead of my usual 9pm/10pm.) all i can say about the book is that at one point i thought that i would have been better off stopping at book 6 or for that matter book 3. still, thank goodness the waiting is over. :)

4:58am
am such a sucker. watched ep 8 of cp without subs :P

chuushingura 1/47

chuushingura 1/47

this drama has the best cast lineup (imo, even better than ikebukuro west gate park and lunch queen.) it's like they used my list of hottest japanese guys in casting and am sure not complaining. :P i mean, takuya kimura alone is more than enough for me, put in okada junichi and i'll be jumping with glee. what more if satoshi tsumabuki appears? *faints* ok, i should stop smiling since this is quite a serious drama. it's about vengeance and the samurai way of living and dying. feuds between clans, periodic theme, not really my usual cup of tea but i have my reasons *lol!* i know it's supposed to be serious but seeing junichi and satoshi in samurai hairstyle is just plain funny. the "may i blow my nose?" scene totally cracked me up too although i think it was intented to hold more significance than merely just for laughs. was that ken watanabe in the end? i can't really tell, here's a pic.

i was supposed to watch love and honor, another takuya kimura film, but i wanted to watch this first since i had this longer and it had a similar theme (i think.) when i read matsu takako's name in the cast i immediately assumed she'll be playing opposite kimura but it was fukatsu eri (sora kara furu ichioku no hoshi) who played kimura's wife. i don't like her that much. she played opposite satoshi too in slow dance.

for kimura fans, there's a scene here where there's a lot of people walking from afar but if you're a kimura fan you'd be able to point him out (despite the dark setting.)

did i like this drama? it's takuya kimura, what'd you think?! plus junichi! and satoshi! if this drama was crap i'd still like it. :P kidding aside, yeah, i did like this drama. "for a samurai, the point is not living, the way one dies is what's important. samurai spend their lives looking for a place to die." these are new viewpoints for me (i tend to be apathetic), not something i'd take on but something to ponder on. :)

i wanna add that i liked the way they did the samurai fights, not the usual fancy sword fighting but it was sorta clumsy, more realistic. *ignore this line, i'm just pretending, i don't know anything about samurai fighting. those i've seen are in movies like kill bill and zatoichi. the best samurai fight scenes that come to mind are kenshin's fights in samurai x (rorouni kenshin)* :P

h2~kimi to itahibi

h2~kimi to itahibi
watched: July 2007
rating: 5 stars

(written last 07-22-07)

i just finished watching H2 and i must say it lived up to its reputation. seldom do i find dramas/movies meeting my high expectations (due to numerous recommendations) so i must say i truly enjoyed watching this drama (hence its 5-star rating.) a lot of people have been recommending this series and i've always wanted to watch this but couldn't find a copy (' links have expired but thanks to 's reups i was able to watch it - hontouni arigatou!)

i never liked discussing things, i find it hard to find words for what i feel and overthinking always leaves me wondering if i really liked it that much. i figured i'd just list down the things i liked, try not to connect each of them, just ramble on each item i can remember.

baseball - it's a pretty new experience for me. never been a fan so this was a bit new to me.

main characters:

kunimi hiro, the pitcher
tachibana hideo, the batter
amamiya hikari, hiro's childhood friend and hideo's girlfriend
koga haruka, the manager

this story revolves around the friendly(?) rivalry between bestfriends hiro and tachibana. basically everybody in this drama loves baseball. hiro was an ace pitcher until his injury and tachibana seems to be enjoying the limelight being the star batter of another school. hikari is hiro's childhood friend. hiro's been secretly in love with her but she's with tachibana. haruka's the clumsy manager of a baseball circle in hiro's school who eventually falls for hiro.

my favorite character would be tachibana hideo. i don't know why. *i love his smile! :P*

i didn't know until the end who'd end up with whom so this is my kind of drama.

was rooting for the wrong pair (i just love this!)

didn't know who the female lead was (hence the rooting for the wrong pair - didn't see the poster before.)

this drama isn't all lovey-dovey (thank goodness!)

was crying for an hour i think. not the non-stop kind, it just sorta spanned for more than 1 episode.

made me laugh.

the side characters are worth mentioning too (come to think of it, it was hikari's mom who made me cry the most.)

i love showdowns :)

definitely worth recommending to anyone who likes sports dramas ;) made me forget that i haven't read deathly hollows yet til now. arrrgghh!! now i remembered, must find other distractions.

tiger & dragon SP

07-21-07 1:10am, saturday

i just finished watching the SP of tiger and dragon and i must say i was entertained. lol! okada junichi and nagase tomoya are so freakin' funny! it makes a big difference that i now like nagase tomoya. i enjoyed this SP more than the regular episodes of T&D. *note to self: must rewatch those when i get the time* dunno if this would serve as a prologue or something that happened in between the series. misaki itoh's character seems to be similar as that in the series but the events/situations changed (thank goodness she's no longer all over my junichi!) although the plot was still the same. i missed tora's usual "tiger tiger, gilletiger!" line. junichi's acting was as usual superb (errr... don't take my word for it since i'm no expert and it's junichi so i am biased). from the moment i first saw him in the poster of kisarazu cat's eye i had this feeling that i'd find him hilarious (and that i'd love him!). i just love his comic antics. he seems to be a natural. well, he's got to be funny since comic rakugo acting isn't really something you can just act out, you have to have it in you.

eps 3 and 4 subs of coffee prince are now out! hurray!!! :D thanks withs2 :) i can't believe i almost passed up watching coffee prince.

now i'm torn between skating and watching cf. oh, ep 1 subs for first kiss is now available too. this is good news for me, i need a lot of distractions since i decided not to buy deathly hollows (for financial reasons, i'm just gonna borrow my friend's copy). :P

another good news, i just came from my checkup and the doctor told me i can take up tennis lessons again! yeeessss!!! but i have to take it slowly and do exercises everyday. the doctor suggested that i do crunches too but i can't do crunches, it makes my neck hurt. she made me show her how i do it and we both realized that i'm hopeless :P

mind game

yet another movie to prove that i can't appreciate nor understand artsy films. got a copy yesterday and was excited to watch it since it came highly recommended. i tried, i really did try to appreciate it. i just didn't get the message (ok... i do have an idea but a bit confused) and in the end i still asked stupid questions like "what the hell happened?!" huwaaahhh!! T_T this just reminds me of my "who's princess mononoke again?" incident. lol!

tokyo tower
"Okan to Boku to, tokidoki, Oton" (mom and i, and sometimes, dad)
watched: July 2007
rating: 5 stars

reasons for loving tokyo tower 2007:

1. it made me cry a lot. i think it's the first drama that made me cry right from the first episode.
2. makun's okan (mother) reminds me of my grandmothers and i just can't help loving her.
3. makes me want to be a good mom in the future (and a good daughter)
4. i can somehow relate to some of their situations (being from a province, studied and currently working in the city)
5. there were situations, decisions and reasonings which were so real that it reminds me of me (and i kinda don't like that part of me.)

now i wanna visit tokyo tower...

i should get a life...

*currently watching:

• tokyo tower
been crying way too much, couldn't finish it just yet. i just love makun's okan and sometimes hate makun. family dramas really do get to me.

• why why love
sexy, sexy mike he! :P same devil beside you cast. this one gets me giggling like a schoolgirl.

• hana kimi (jap version)
thank goodness oguri shun looks acceptable in this one. ep 1 was really funny. i like nanba (mizushima hiro), the dorm 2 head. saw him in kanojo to no tadashii asobikata some time ago. he's way too skinny but really cute. ella vs. horikita maki... ella as of the moment. wu zun vs. oguri shun... lol! my obvious answer would be wu zun. twdrama vs. jdrama... we'll see.

• liar game
from all the good reviews i've been hearing about this, i just couldn't not watch. it's a different jdrama, different in a good way. although a bit predictable at times it still leaves me amazed and intrigued. where do they get those ideas? i wonder if the manga's storyline's the same. just waiting for the finale subs, it's a 3-hour special so might be a while before i do get to finish this.

*seen:

• ima, ai ni yukimasu
waaahh! i just love this movie! one of the reasons why i decided to pause on tokyo tower, kept on crying (although not as much as TT). i just love takeuchi yuko (pride, lunch queen, mukodono). thanks to all the people who recommended this one. hmmm... i wonder why takeuchi yuko and nakamura shido (ping pong, kce) split up in real life.

*taking up:

• yamada taro
bambi!!! will watch this tonight. not really a fan of nino so i'm watching this just for sho.

• papa to musume no nanokakan
saw some caps and somehow got me interested. will watch if there's time after yamada taro.

• coffee prince
korean's version of hana kimi? i'm not so sure yet when i'll watch this. it's based on a manhwa... fullhouse was from a manhwa... *thinks...* i'll probably watch this. :P

• first kiss
mikio!!! 'nuf said :P

*read:

• can you keep a secret?
a book by sophie kinsella. really, really funny. :D when i decided last night not to watch any drama, i started reading this. was up 'til 2am just to finish it.

im tired... i wanna go home now... :'( there's something frustrating about unbalanced logs and actual numbers. i need a hug from my nanay now. :(

something i noticed: when i type "female" i usually type it as "femail" (unconsciously), my hands must have typed more "email" than "male."
